West Valley College is launching a new certification program, the Community Caregiver Certificate, through a partnership with nonprofit Successful Aging Solutions and Community Consulting (SASCC). The program is designed to meet the growing demand for caregivers in Santa Clara County, where there are estimated to be around 177,000 family caregivers. The study revealed significant gaps in training and support, with over half of respondents citing a lack of in-home assistance and insufficient training as a key contributor to burnout, turnover and inconsistent care quality. The program will consist of two courses, one in the classroom and another in a hands-on skills lab.
