Michael Whatley, the Republican Party nominee for North Carolina's US Senate, has been trailing former Democratic Governor Roy Cooper in all polls so far. Whatley left his position as chairman of the national Republican Party to run for the position. He is excited about representing North Carolina, where he believes he can represent the best state in the country. Despite being in the 40s in most polls, Whatley is confident he can change this situation. He previously served as chief of staff for Elizabeth Dole, who represented North Carolina in the Senate from 2003 to 2009.
