OpenAI has raised a record $122 billion in committed capital, reaching an $852 billion post-money valuation, surpassing anything raised in private markets. The funding was led by Amazon, Nvidia, and SoftBank, with continued participation from Microsoft. The company also opened participation to individual investors through bank channels for the first time, raising over $3 billion from that tranche alone. OpenAI is generating $2 billion per month and claims that its ChatGPT app is 6x the monthly web visits and mobile sessions of the next largest AI app, and 4x the total time spent on all other AI apps combined.
