Laredo Airport not expected to add ICE officers to assist TSA

The United States has sent in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to assist with airport security due to the ongoing government shutdown, which has resulted in over 400 resignation of more than 400 TSA agents. However, Laredo International Airport Director Gilberto Sanchez has not been notified of the ICE deployment. The move has been met with mixed reactions, with some questioning whether the agents are trained to perform anything required by the TSA or other airport employees. The deployment is expected to bolster TSA efforts to prevent future air travel disruptions.
