The East Feliciana Parish tourism commission, which has been inactive for several years, is set to resume after a vote by the East Felicantic Police Jury. District Attorney Sam D'Aquilla informed the jury that one bed and breakfast in Clinton, Louisiana, still pays a 2% occupancy tax to fund the commission. The commission has $25,000 in an account ready to be used. The jury has approved previous members rejoining the commission or opening their seats up for new appointments. George Schaffer, who runs the Galvez Rum Tasting Room & Gardens in Jackson, believes the restart could help his distillery become more successful in promoting the distillery.
