The post was taken down after screenshots were shared and led to demands for Kinlaw's removal or resignation. Despite the uproar, Kinlaw defended the post in a video published by the Gaston Gazette. The Gaston County School Board issued a statement April 1 stating that Kinlaw’s comments did not represent the views of the full board but lacked the power to remove him from office.
