New York Sues Coinbase, Gemini Over Unlicensed Markets

New York's Attorney General, Letitia James, has filed lawsuits against crypto exchange operators, Coinbase Financial Markets and Gemini Titan for allegedly violating state gambling laws. The state alleges that both exchanges failed to obtain licenses from the New York State Gaming Commission to operate their markets. The lawsuit seeks to recover alleged illegal profits from operating these markets and will also bar them from offering such products to individuals under 21 years of age. This move is part of a broader push by state regulators to control over prediction markets, which allow users to bet on real-world events.
