Spanish officials have clashed with regional authorities over plans to receive the virus-stricken cruise ship MV Hondius. The Spanish health minister, Mónica García, announced that the Hondius would dock at a port in Tenerife, one of Spain's Canary Islands, but Fernando Clavijo, president of the Canary Islands objected to the plan. This comes after a man who had traveled on the Honduras received treatment for hantavirus in Zurich, Switzerland. The World Health Organization has described the virus as a group of viruses carried by rodents that can cause severe disease in humans.
