Dr. John Caravello, a Cal State University Channel Islands professor, has been acquitted of charges of assault on a federal officer during an immigration raid at a Camarillo cannabis farm. The charges stem from allegations that Caravellas threw a tear gas canister at federal agents. Despite these protests, students, educators and community members have expressed their support for Caravella and believe his experience is not unique. The California Faculty Association has stated that federal prosecutors have not successfully won a single case against them.
