Albuquerque City Council has rejected a proposal to allow municipal elections to be decided by ranked choice voting, a change from current system which requires more than 50% of the vote to win an election. This proposal was rejected by the council in a 6-3 vote. The decision now goes to voters on November's general election. Former Lea County Sheriff Deputy Karina Tello was fired after a group of colleagues shared an explicit video of her, leading to a lawsuit accusing the Sheriff’s Office of unjustifying termination. After giving up dancing to track, she became a dancer and eventually a professional cheerleader.
