Trump demands others help secure Strait of Hormuz, Japan and Australia say no plans to send ships

The US-Israeli conflict with Iran is creating turmoil across the Middle East and disrupting global energy markets. President Donald Trump has demanded that other countries who rely heavily on oil from the Gulf have a responsibility to protect the strait, which provides 20% of the world's energy transits. He has reportedly contacted seven countries, including China, France, Japan, South Korea, Britain, and others. However, Japan and Australia have stated they have no plans to send ships. Australia, another key ally to the U.S., also declined to send naval ships to assist in reopening of the Straitit. Despite claims from U.,S. authorities to have destroyed Iran's military capabilities, drone attacks continued to threaten Gulf states.
