Festival do Rio Goes to Cannes: New Brazilian Directors, the Horror of Homelessness, Remarkable True Stories

The Festival do Rio Goes to Cannes has showcased five new and emerging Brazilian directors at the Cannes Film Festival. The event is a pix-in-post showcase showcasing films coming out of Brazil following its Oscar and Golden Globes triumphs. Films from Jô Serfaty, Thais Fujinaga, Maju de Paiva and Bernardo Florim, and Marcelo Florim are among the featured directors. All five films are currently in post-production and set to be shown at the Marché du Film showcase. The festival is also offering two new awards in 2026: the OCS+ Award, €15,000 ($17.6 million) for the French distributor of a Goes to Festival project, and the AH Media Production Award of €10,000.
