Man sentenced for strangling 4-year-old girl, setting her room on fire

A 43-year-old Texas man has been sentenced to life without parole for the murder of a 4-year old girl. The girl's body was discovered during a fire in 2022 and authorities determined that she had been strangled. Humberto Martinez was initially charged with arson and later indicted on a capital murder charge related to the death of a child under 10. He pleaded guilty to the charges in March 2026 and was sentenced two days later.
