Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, has spoken about her political past and her current allegiance to the Republican Party. She was a registered Democrat until at least 2014, but voted for her husband in the Republican Senate primary in 2022 and is now a registered Republican. She said that she feels comfortable in her role as someone with whom her husband can have honest conversations about issues with no expectation of them seeing eye to eye on everything. Despite speculation about who might succeed Donald Trump in the 2028 election, Usha said that their focus is currently on the midterm elections.
