Portsmouth dad's 'emotional' Everest trek for murdered brother

Eugene Scardifield, a 58-year-old Portsmouth man, completed his highest fundraising challenge, walking 249,000 steps over 11 days and reaching an elevation of 5,664m (18,519 ft). He credits his journey to the Support After Murder and Manslaughter (SAMM) charity, which he says saved his life after entering a spiral of depression and alcohol abuse. The journey was emotional as Eugene's brother, Michael, was strangled in his home in Stoke-on Trent in 2015.
