Man gets 8 years in prison for I-70 joyride with stolen bus in Colorado mountains

Jared Romelo Brooks, 30, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for stealing a stolen bus from Georgetown, Colorado, and leading police on a joyride down Interstate 70 in October. He pleaded guilty to second-degree motor vehicle theft in February, dropping charges of attempted first-degree murder and vehicular eluding from his case. The normal sentencing range for second-denial motorvehicular theft is two to six years. Brooks was sentenced to the maximum of this range and will spend three years on parole after his release. The bus was later found abandoned in Denver.
