A new law is taking effect in Alabama next year that will reduce out-of-pocket costs for prostate cancer screenings. The law will require insurance companies to fully cover these screenings for certain individuals. This comes as studies show that one in eight men will be diagnosed with the disease in their lifetime in the US. The bill's advocate, David McElhaney, has been instrumental in lobbying for the bill and is now six years cancer-free. He credits his victory to the right medical care, lifestyle changes, and family support. McEidid hopes other states will adopt similar legislation soon.
