A new battery recycling law has been passed in Oregon, aimed at preventing fires at waste facilities and in garbage trucks. The law makes manufacturers responsible for funding a statewide battery recycling program and prohibits batteries from being tossed in the trash. Once the program begins, Oregonians will be able to safely recycle their batteries easily, without additional cost.
