The company's CEO, Yusuke Nakagawa, chose the event to showcase and spread Japan’s harajuku culture, a collection of eclectic subcultures. The Honolulu event featured a diverse crowd of fans, including both local residents and diehard fans from Japan. Nakagawawa believes Hawaii was the perfect location to expand Asobian Expo into the U., as well as other events like the Matsuri event in Los Angeles are label agnostic.
