Mercedes reports drop in Q1 sales during 'transition year' for China market

Mercedes-Benz (MBGn.DE) has reported a 6% decrease in sales in its core business for the first quarter of 2026, largely due to an overhaul of its lineup in the Chinese market. Sales decreased by 7% in Europe and 20% in the United States, but this was not enough to offset a 27% drop in China. The company expects 2026 to be a "transition year" for the brand, partly due to the phase-out of certain models in its entry segment.
