Former South Carolina governor attempting political comeback in Congress

Former South Carolina governor, Mark Sanford, has filed for the U.S. House of Representatives seat in South Carolina's District 1 district. He previously represented the district from 1995-2001 and again from 2013-2019. Despite previous scandals, Sanford's political career has been largely overshadowed by his admission to having an affair with a woman in 2009 and accusations of another with journalist Olivia Nuzzi. He is one of 11 Republicans in the primary race for the District 1 seat.
