San Francisco's neighborhood night markets are returning as a popular seasonal ritual, with events like these in the Sunset, Cole Valley, Richmond, Chinatown, Castro, Noe Valley, North Beach and Bayview. The after-dark street fair, inspired by traditional night markets in Asia, originally launched in 2023 to aid small businesses in recovery from the pandemic and boost the city's economic recovery. Similar events have since expanded to other areas including Cole Valley and Richmond. The return of Cole Valley's night market on Thursday drew hundreds of attendees, with vendors selling everything from tamales and Nepali momos to art prints and handmade ceramics. The momentum continues in the Castro, with monthly events scheduled for April 16 and May 21 from 4-9pm.
