The US is on the verge of breaking the record for the hottest March temperature anywhere in the United States, with 108 degrees in California. This is due to climate change, with a weather station near Martinez Lake, Arizona, which some media outlets reported as the record-breaking, not being quality controlled for accuracy. The National Centers for Environment Information (NCEI) may investigate this, but the nationwide record was at least preliminarily tied on Thursday afternoon. An analysis by World Weather Attribution found that this heat wave would be impossible for this time of year without human-induced climate change. The extreme heat is the deadliest form of extreme weather in the US, killing more than twice as many people each year as hurricanes and tornadoes combined.
