Staley expressed her respect for Auraemma and said the two had spoken since South Carolina's 62-48 victory over UConn. The season ended with UCLA's 79-51 win over South Carolina in Sunday's national championship game. Auriamma had publicly apologized for his actions during the game, stating that one moment doesn't define his career and that he has been instrumental in growing women’s basketball.
