The Houston Texans have officially released defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. He was ruled out of the season due to a ruptured pectoral and ended the year on injured reserve. The remainder of his two-year, $9.5 million contract is off the books, resulting in a savings of $4 million from his salary and $1 million in dead money. The Texans have already signed defensive end Logan Hall.
