The UK's meningitis outbreak, which has resulted in 20 deaths and hundreds of injuries, is being called a "super-spreader event". The outbreak, initially linked to a nightclub popular with University of Kent students, has also resulted in a 9-month-old infant being hospitalised. The UK Health Security Agency confirmed that six of the cases are cases of bacterial meneditis B. The agency has administered around 2,500 doses of antibiotics across sites in Kent and is urging close contacts to come forward for treatment. An estimated 5,000 students will be given the meningita B vaccine in the coming days.
