Rain is returning to Southeast Michigan, potentially delaying recovery of rivers and streams still elevated from the previous weekend's heavy rainfall, causing significant runoff and delays in drainage in low-lying areas. The rain becomes more widespread overnight, with embedded thunderstorms possible into early Friday morning. This could create slick roadways and increase the chance of hydroplaning for the Friday morning commute. Despite this, high pressure will maintain dry weather throughout the weekend, setting up favorable conditions for outdoor events such as the University of Michigan men’s basketball championship parade in Ann Arbor. A warming trend will continue into next week, with temperatures expected to reach the 70s and possibly reach 80 degrees by Tuesday afternoon. The return of rain and thunderstorms could have noticeable impacts across the region, but the unsettled pattern means plans may need to be flexible.
