The heavy snow and powerful wind gusts across the Upper Peninsula and parts of northern Michigan caused blizzard-like conditions across the area, with some areas seeing up to two inches per hour of snowfall and winds reaching up to 60mph. The storm dumped 30 inches of fresh snow across the Marquette region and other areas reported as much as two feet of snow. Some roads were completely impassable due to whiteout conditions. The Alpena Power Company warned its customers power could be out of power for days, with over 117,000 power outages reported. The weather service said many locations still have 20-50 inches of snow on the ground and may hold onto this snowpack well into April, possibly until May.
