Texas health investigators are investigating complaints filed against Camp Mystic, a historic youth camp where 27 girls and counselors died when the Guadalupe River flooded on July 4 last year. The Texas Department of State Health Services is also reviewing the hundreds of complaints filed about the care of children at Camp Mystic. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has urged the department not to renew the camp's license, citing many unanswered questions surrounding the deaths of 27 girls. The camp has submitted its application to renew its license to operate in March and has sought to reopen a newer portion of its property this summer, Camp Mystic Cypress Lake, which had no fatalities during the flood. Meanwhile, separate court battles are playing out regarding the future of Camp Mystic's operations.
