Greenpeace activists storm stage at France's nuclear summit, confront Macron

Greenpeace activists disrupted the start of a global nuclear summit in France, interrupting President Emmanuel Macron and U.N. Nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi as they greeted heads of state. The activists held banners reading "Nuclear Power = Energy Insecurity" and "nuclear power fuels Russia’s war". One of them asked why France is still buying uranium from Russia, which France has its own uranium enrichment capacity but imports enriched uranium from other countries, including Russia. The Greenpeace group described the event as an "anachronism" and an "out of touch with reality" following the tragic situations of Russian aggression in Ukraine, the strikes on Iran and the worsening climate disruption.
