The Chicago Board of Education has named three finalists for the position of its school district, including interim CEO Macquline King, Meisha Ross Porter, former New York City superintendent Meisha Narcisse, and Sito Narcisse. The announcement follows a months-long search process that initially was unsuccessful. The finalists will next be interviewed by a panel of 15 that includes students, parents, teachers, and community members. King, who has been serving as interim leader of Chicago Public Schools since June, had previously been criticized for not agreeing to the mayor's budget plan, but gained some respect this fall for working with district officials on federal immigration enforcement.
