A Texas man, Bruce Gentry, saw a balance of $197 billion in his Coinbase app when he opened the app for a routine check and saw so many zeros that they went into behind some of the icons on the screen. The error was attributed to a May 7 outage and was blamed on a display issue. Gentry said he never tried to withdraw the money and instead chose to use it for charitable purposes. Experts advise that if such an occurrence occurs, immediately reporting it to the bank or the rightful owner, avoiding touching, spending, or giving away the money.
