A Sacramento County man, Alexander Opdyke, was carjacked at gunpoint after offering a ride to a stranger in a parking lot at a Safeway early Tuesday morning. The suspect, identified as Tyler Gress, was later fatally shot by deputies following a high-speed chase that led to the death of Gress. Despite the ordeal, Opdyk said he still wants to help people but will be more cautious in the future. His car and belongings are currently being held as evidence by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. The emotional toll of the incident has been difficult for Opydke and financially impacted his finances.
