Over 130 public figures have signed a letter to the UK's Court of Appeal expressing their support for Palestine Action, a group that was banned by the UK government in 2000. The signatories include prominent figures such as writer Sally Rooney, climate campaigner Greta Thunberg, American scholar Judith Butler, British musicians Nadine Shah and Brian Eno, writers China Mieville, Lina Meruane and Tariq Ali, and professors at leading universities such as Cambridge, Oxford, Yale, Columbia and the London School of Economics. The government's ban on Palestine Action was overturned in February, leading to the arrest of over 500 people at a protest.
