Perth Amboy has received over $1 billion in private investment to clean up contaminated land and convert former industrial sites into housing, commercial space, and public amenities. The largest project involves a $228 million logistics and distribution center converting 73 acres of contaminated industrial property into a 1.24-million-square-foot two-building facility. The Gateway development at Victory Bridge is expected to create 400 jobs and generate $1 million annually in city revenue. The city is also partnering with a developer to overhaul the Department of Public Works (DPW) facility on Fayette Street, which will benefit from private investment. All projects contribute development fees to the city's housing trust, which funds rehabilitation projects and affordability assistance.
