On Hertel Avenue in Buffalo, many of the neighborhood's shops and restaurants are owned and operated by women, a trend that local business leaders say continues to grow. Judy Porto-Fiorella, president of the Hertel Business Association, said seeing new shops with new women owners brings everyone out in the community together. Sue Morreale, co-owner of Her Story, Her Sanctuary, Her Kitchen, has been running her business for 35 years and shares her experience with her daughter, Ciara Lucas. New businesses joining the community have been introduced by Kristiana Morell and Alexie Andlauer, who are bringing their new studio, Mente Pilates, to the neighborhood.
