Library insider blasts CEO for cutting programs and then traveling around the globe

Employees at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore have raised concerns about the spending decisions made by the new CEO, Chad Helton, following deep cuts to programs such as the book mobile, summer reading program and staff overtime. Helton and three other librarians reportedly took multiple international trips last summer, including an eight-day trip to Egypt, a trip to China, and a trip abroad. The library insisted that tax dollars did not fund the travel, but donated funds were paid for with donations from a discretionary fund. One insider estimates the groups travel exceeded $60,000 and urged caution for donors.
