The U.S. Homeland Security Department (DHS) is taking emergency action to pay 50,000 airport security officers who have been unpaid since mid-February due to work absences. This has led to long security lines and disruptions at major airports across the country. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has begun the process of paying its workforce, with paychecks expected to be made as early as Monday. Nearly 500 TSA officers have left the post since February. It is unclear whether the funding will last or whether President Donald Trump will tap funding approved last year for the DHS.
