Ellen Fisher, a Texas Tech law student, has sued the university for violating her free speech rights by disciplining her over comments she made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Fisher, who is Black, alleges that she was singled out for punishment despite other white law students discussing Kirk's assassination. She claims that the university's punishment would harm her ability to become a licensed attorney after she graduates in May. The lawsuit alleges that the school's investigation excluded testimony from students and professors who said her conversations were standard for law school discussions.
