Rep. Kevin Kiley (I-Calif.) has called for the use of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers at airports due to long security wait times, stating that this is not ideal. Instead, he urged Congress to pass legislation to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which has operated without funding for over a month. White House border czar Tom Homan said that ICE officers will assist TSA agents wherever they can provide extra security. Kiley and other Democratic lawmakers have expressed concern over the move, with some questioning whether ICE personnel will wear masks at airports.
