Amanda Peet, an actress and mother-of-three, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and detailed her experiences in an essay published by the New Yorker. She revealed that during a routine check-up on August 29, her doctor noticed something odd on an ultrasound and a biopsy identified a small tumor. Her father died the same day, and Peet felt guilty about not disclosing her diagnosis to her mother, who had late-stage Parkinson's disease. She also discussed researching "lobular breast cancer" online, focusing on its size and its tendency to underestimate its size. Peet also revealed her plans to explain her diagnosis and death to her three children, Frances, Molly, 15, and son Henry, 11.
