Burger kitchen boss defends turning away people with allergies

Jeff Taylor, owner of Bun X, Norwich-based burger restaurant, has defended his policy to turn away customers with food allergies, stating it is "fair" to those with gluten, nut, soya or sesame allergies due to operating out of a small kitchen. While some have praised the business's openness, others argue it could do more to cater to allergens. The Food Standards Agency has advised people with an allergy visiting a restaurant to be upfront with the eatery and ensure it is able to make changes to suit any dietary needs. Despite publicising that the business cannot cater for all allergens, customers still turn up for booking, which can put additional pressure on staff.
