Woman Has 'Monster' 1-Pound Kidney Stone Removed: 'It was Huge and It Had Horns'

Chrissi Anderson, a 61-year-old woman from Omaha, Nebraska, had a 1-pound kidney stone removed from her body. The staghorn kidney stones, which typically grow to be very large, are silent as they cannot move and block the kidney. If they kept growing undetected, Anderson would have lost her kidney. The heaviest kidney stone ever removed from a person weighed 1.76 pounds. Anderson is recovering well and her right kidney function is improving. She will be monitored with regular scans. Her giant kidney stone is being sent to a lab for analysis and she hopes to keep it for good.
