The national average price for diesel has exceeded $5 per gallon due to the ongoing conflict in Iran. This is the second time the average diesel price has surpassed $5, with the first occurring in 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The conflict has halted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key hub for oil consumption.
