Ndiaga Diagne, a 53-year-old naturalized citizen and native of Senegal, was killed in a shootout with members of the Austin Police Department following the mass shooting outside a bar. The attack, which left two dead and 14 wounded, is suspected to have been an act of terror. Diagne had a prior arrest in Manhattan for illegal vending in Times Square and was sued by a pedestrian in May 2017 while working as a licensed TLC livery driver. The disposition of the lawsuit was not clear, though Diagne's TLC license expired in 2020. The shooting reportedly occurred shortly after the U.S. launched an attack on Iran that killed its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
