Audio ads could soon be a part of your daily commute on the NYC subway system

The New York City Metropolitan Police (MTA) has initiated a pilot program that will stream 30-second audio ads into select subway and commuter rail stations every 10 minutes. The ads, which are capped at 75 decibels, are expected to significantly increase the soundscape of stations where riders struggle to understand service announcements. The pilot program will focus on entertainment and sports, with only one advertiser per station taking over a station per day. The MTA has not yet released a public list of participating stations.
