IndyCar will continue using the single-car, single-lap Fast Six qualifying format for all remaining street races for the remainder of the season. The format was introduced at the Grand Prix of Arlington and was considered a success. The fastest driver from the Fast 12 can now choose their running order position in the Fast Six, based on their position within the Fast Twelve. This change allows the slowest fast 12 driver to choose their position based on the order of their previous lap. IndyCar will also make drivers line up at pit out after declaring which tires they will use for the fast six round, which is meant to reduce time and equalize the Fast six laps. This update aims to make for a more engaging qualifying format and emphasizes the close competition and perfection it takes to start at the front of the grid.
