The Lady Knights, an all-girls community flag football team from Knightdale, North Carolina, has risen from last place to undefeated in their first national championship tournament. The team, consisting of middle-schoolers, has been building a winning team through hard work and mental health wellness. They are currently undefeated and aim to compete in the national championship in Tampa, Florida in July. Many of the girls, who had never played flag football before, learned positions on the fly the day they played their first game. The nonprofit Lady Knights organization aims to ensure that no athlete is left on the sidelines due to financial hardship and build emotional resilience and confidence among the girls.
