Director Coerte Voorhees has revealed that actor Val Kilmer, who died in April after a decade-long battle with throat cancer, has been brought back to life using AI technology. Kilmer was cast as Father Fintan in "As Deep as the Grave," a film about Southwestern archaeologists tracing the history of the Navajo people. Despite Kilmer never actually shooting a scene on set, the moviemakers created a digital, generative AI likeness of the actor with an authentic voice and voice. The film uses younger images of Kilmer and footage from some of his final projects to create the version audiences will see on the big screen.
