Miami (Ohio) defeated SMU 89-79 in the First Four, marking the team's first NCAA Tournament victory in 27 years. The 11th-seeded team, which was unbeaten in the regular season, advanced to play No. 6 seed Tennessee in the Midwest Region. Eian Elmer scored 22 points, including six of them from 3-point range. Jaden Toombs led by 20 points and 11 rebounds for SMU.
